What is the purpose of this class?
I wanted to give students the chance to do real world problem solving applications. Everybody will (hopefully) live in a home someday, and it will probably need some type of repair completed. So, why not learn about these repairs before they happen?
What made you want to start this class?
I always wanted to do something like this. I know what kind of headaches come with home ownership (my house is older) from fixing this and fixing that. Learning doesn’t have to be done to pass a test. Learning can be trial and error and experiences.
What kind of assignments and projects do students in the class have to complete?
I try to cover the main units of simple electrical wiring; framing/adding a simple wall; drywall installation and repair; and finally, copper and CPVC plumbing. If we have time, I will touch base on other applications.
Do you have plans to add any new projects or assignments to the class later on?
We will see how it goes I have the materials ready for Home Maintenance II and would like to go…in-depth (with) things like roofing, cement work, and who knows what else.
