Black City is the first book of a series written by Elizabeth Richards. The other two books are Phoenix and Wings. The book isn’t amazing, but it is good. I like how the author alternates the narrator between the two main characters, Ash and Natalie.  Ash is a boy who is born into a race that is looked down upon by most humans in this supernatural society.   Natalie is a girl whose mom is the Emissary of this society.  Obviously, these two cannot be together, and they know it. Trying to deny their love doesn’t work, but accepting can mean death.  Black City is your typical Romeo and Juliet love story, except its setting is in the supernatural world–which makes for some very interesting twists.

I would give this book a 3 out of 4 stars.
