September, October, November, day,

Pilgrims and Indians, Plymouth, fall,

Time to be thankful, happy holiday,

Frozen ground, crunchy leaves, perhaps, snowfall.

 

Smells of turkey, stuffing and potatoes,

Family gathers, close around tables,

All of the thanks and grateful words disclose,

Puppy happy, hoping to get food scraps.

 

We are thankful for freedoms, our country,

Family, friends, the roof over our heads,

The clothes on our backs and shoes on or feet,

Weekends, campfires, the setting sun descends.

 

Should we only be thankful on this day?

Give thanks for the good, tomorrow and today.
