Mackenzie Young, a freshman at Redbank Valley High School, was recently awarded with ALF Junior Queen title at Clarion’s annual Autum Leaf Festival.  Furthermore, Mackenzie also won Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic, 1st Place Essay, 1st Place Interview, and 1st Place in Talent.  The awards also came with scholarship money, which she plans to use toward her goal of enrolling in a college program to major in dance with a minors in physical therapy and physical training.

Preparation for the competition included an initial meeting and sign-ups,  practices at her dance studio, writing an essay, an interview with the judges, as well as participating in multiple competition categories.  During the competition, Mackenzie, as well as the other contestants, completed “Friday Night Fun-Ware” attire, a talent category, and lastly a “Formal Wear” category. For her talent entry, Mackenzie chose to do her dance solo, “I’m Not Perfect” because it is very meaningful to her life.  Mackenzie was motivated for the competition by her dance teacher who was “always there for her and like a sister.”

Through her pageant experience, Mackenzie made new friends and also appreciated the experience of doing something as spectacular as this pageant at such a young age.  Congratulations, Mackenzie!
