Junior Shields

Mackenzie Pence, Assistant Editor

The Junior shield project has been around for a very long time – about ten to fifteen years! It all started as a “happy accident” in Mrs. Moore’s English class. While learning about medieval warfare, a student asked how the knights could tell who was who on the battle field. Mrs. Moore explained that the knight’s shield was customized for the knight. This instantly inspired her, and the kids took out a scratch piece of paper to design a shield that described them. After that, it spiraled into what it is now! It’s a big project that everyone seems to enjoy, andĀ it really helps juniors figure out what makes them unique. Here are just some of the wonderful shields that the Junior class created!
