I recently had the opportunity to catch up with the varsity basketball boys before one of their big games.

Although it hasn’t been a normal season, the boys are currently 12-6 and  playoff-bound. They’re thrilled about their playoff status, and, in the words of Chris Marshall, should do “pretty good” depending on who all they play.

Throughout the season, there have been many unusual changes and challenges due the coronavirus, but the boys persevered. The biggest change they experienced, according to Owen Magagnotti, is wearing masks. “Wearing masks sucks,” says Mags. And I can see why. They have to wear a mask on the court, on the bench, and on the busses.

Not being able to use the locker rooms were mentioned as a big change as well. Even though all of these changes are happening, the boys’ bond surely hasn’t changed a bit. On the court and on the bench, you can see the camaraderie among the players.  These guys are supportive of each other, uplifting every player as he goes out on the court.

This year’s seniors include Landon Pence, Ty Sherry, and Owen Magagnotti.

Good luck to the Redbank Valley Boys’ Basketball team as they head into the playoffs.
