Food Drive

Food Drive

Mr. Gold is holding a food drive, to get donations for the Mechling-Shakley Veteran’s Center in Armstrong County. This center specifically works with veteran’s that are homeless. The whole thing started when an assistant coach from the football team saw a Facebook post saying that they were looking for preserved foods and personal hygiene products. At first, it just started with the football team, but has now branched out to all of Mr. Gold’s classes and essentially anyone who hears about it.

Anyone who would like the donate, can either just the stuff off in Mr. Gold’s room 143 or there is a box outside the front of the school. They are aiming to have every collected by Wednesday, March 3.

Mr. Gold says that he can see this happening again in the future! He trys to do the same activities every year. However, this year was a little different and they weren’t able to do as many things due to the pandemic. Something Mr. Gold and the students have done in the past is help vendors set up for the Peanut Butter Festival. He said that this is the most consistent community service project they do. They usually also try to do one or two other things that pop up from year to year.
