After having a rough last two weeks with losses against Union/ACV and Coudersport, the Redbank Valley Bulldogs were able to finally get another win. Their 54 to 14 win against Punxsutawney would improve the team’s record to 8-2 as they go into the playoffs.

The Bulldogs were able to get their first touchdown of the game after Cam Wagner gave a little toss to Javin Brentzel for a five-yard pass. On the Bulldogs’ next offensive drive, Ray Shreckengost was able to break free for about a 43-yard rushing touchdown to give Redbank a 14-0 lead. After that, the Bulldogs would pound it down the Chucks’ throats again as Hudson Martz would have himself a six-yard rushing touchdown.

Midway through the second quarter, Wagner was able to find Samuel Hetrick in the endzone for an eight-yard touchdown. On defense Coltin Bartley forced a fumble and recovered it.  Then Wagner found  Hetrick again on a slant route for a 51-yard touchdown. This score would give the Bulldogs a 33-0 lead. On the next drive, however, the Chucks would be able to find the endzone for the first time and get the two-point conversion, making the score 33-8.  Then with just a bit left in the half, Shreckengost would end up finding the endzone off of a six-yard carry.  At the half, Redbank Valley would lead Punxsutawney with a score of 40-8. This would be a feeling that the Bulldogs had not felt since two weeks ago when the team had their last win against Curwensville.

Redbank would enter the new half with confidence as they would return the ball to start.  On the team’s second offensive drive of the half, they would give it to their hot hand, Shreckengost, who would get the team a nine-yard rushing touchdown. Not too shortly after,  Justin Ferringer would find the endzone with a ten-yard rushing touchdown, giving the Bulldogs a 54-8 lead.  Defensiveman Bartley would recover yet another fumble for the Bulldogs. With just a few drives left, the Chucks would be able to score again to finish the game with a score of 54-14.

Offensively, freshman quarterback Wagner, filling in for injured first string quarterback Gunner Magiantini, played very well, putting up three passing touchdowns for 191 yards. On the rushing side of things, Shreckengost had a great performance with three touchdowns and 107 yards.  Defensively, Coltin Bartley stood out with two fumble recoveries and 12 total tackles.

This was  a big win for the Bulldogs, as they will be on a winning streak going into the playoffs.  The first playoff game will be against Union/ACV in a rematch of regular season play.   Redbank will be the number 2 seeded team while Union/ACV will be the number 3 seeded team.  The location of the game is still yet to be deterimined.
