What high school did you go to?

Redbank Valley High School.

What college did you go to?

Clarion University for my Bachelors Degree and Virginia Tech for my Masters Degree.

What extracurricular activities did you participate in high school and college?

Basketball, plays, chorus, student council.

What made you decide to be a teacher?

I always liked math in high school. It came easy to me and I had a great math teacher, Mr. Burkett in high school that inspired me.

How long have you been here at Redbank?

26 years.

What courses do you currently teach here at the high school?

Trig/Precalculus, Algebra 1, AP Statistics, and Problem Solving/Probability and Statistics.

What is one of your favorite teaching memories?

There are many but it seems they all revolve around the great feeling I get when students have that “aha” moment in class. We have some really great students here at Redbank and they make teaching them a pleasure.

What is one local, state, or national educational issue that you would like to see resolved?

I would like to see less standardized testing. It seems to put way too much stress on students and teachers alike.

What are some of your hobbies outside of work?

Reading, boating, biking, kayaking, crocheting.

If you had not chosen to be a teacher, what other career path would you have explored?

I enjoy acting and being in plays so that might have been something I would like to have pursued.
