Teacher Feature: Mr. Carrier

Mr. Carrier

What high school did you go to?

The Redbank Valley High School

What college did you go to?

Clarion University of Pennsylvania

What extracurricular activities did you participate in high school and college?

Baseball and basketball in high school.  Nothing in college.

What made you decide to be a teacher?

I started out as a communications major, but decided I was not cut out to communicate.  I needed a new major and chose education. (Very funny, Mr. Carrier!)

How long have you been here at Redbank?

This is my 15th year.

Since you have been at Redbank, what sports have you coached or clubs that you sponsored?

I coached the JV baseball team back when Coach Hibell and his teammates were District Championships.

What courses do you currently teach here at the high school?

7th Grade World Geography…11th Grade Modern History.

What is one of your favorite teaching memories?

My favorite teaching moments occur each year during graduation.  I see students graduate and think back to when they were in seventh grade.  It brings back great memories.

What is one local, state, or national educational issue that you would like to see resolved?

More money being invested in education on a national and state level so students could have a wide variety of courses in small schools like Redbank Valley.

What are some of your hobbies outside of work?

Golf, music and driving my three children all around to sporting events.

If you had not chosen to be a teacher, what other career path would you have explored?

I have no idea. Probably something involving sports.
