Stan Lee, A Comic Book Hero

On November 12, 2018, Earth lost a hero.  Stan Lee died at the age of 95.You may remember Stan Lee from one of his numerous comic book characters, including Spiderman, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, and Doctor Strange.

Stan ¨Lee” Leiber was born an ordinary child on December 28, 1922, in New York City to Cecil and Jack Leiber. He grew up during the Great Depression, but that didn’t hold him back pursuing his dreams.

In 1939, Leiber transformed into Lee, when Stan got a position as an office assistant at Timely Comics. Not long after that, he got promoted to an interim editor. Eventually, Lee found himself in the army as a writer and illustrator, earning him the title playwright. After returning to Timely Comics, now called Atlas Comics, he began writing a whole range of genres from romantic tales to horror fantasies.

Stan Lee’s name began to spread with the release of Fantastic 4 in 1961 with co-creator Jack Kirby. His fame didn’t stop there thanks to the publicity of his new features Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and the X-Men. Eventually, all these characters led to the very popular Avengers.

Today Lee has made cameo appearances in 57 Marvel movies, making each cameo even more fantastic than the last. He had many famous actors and actresses work in his movies, including Chris Hemsworth, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey, Jr., and Scarlett Johanssen.

Stan Lee was able to get the best out of life by marrying the love of his life, Joan Lee, who died a year before him. He is survived by a brother and two daughters. With all of his stories being different from the next, Stan Lee´s amazing career and life will always be remembered.
