On November 14 the Redbank Valley volleyball ball team hosted a  banquet to honor all junior varsity and varsity players.

At the end of the season the players got to nominate players for four different awards:  Offense MVP, Defensive MVP, MVP, and Players’ Player.

For junior varsity, Ryley Pago was chosen as  Offensive MVP; Karlee Shoemaker was chosen as Defensive MVP and Players’ Player; and Montana Hetrick received  MVP. Coach Anderson also recognized the setters, Lily Shaffer and Brooke Holben, by nominating them for Coach’s Choice.

For varsity, Taylor King was selected as Offensive MVP; Hope Spence was picked for Defensive MVP; Josie Rupp was MVP, and the varsity players nominated “all teammates” to be Players’ Player. The reason for voting for all players was because they are all a family, and they couldn’t just pick one person.

Fifteen players earned  varsity letters:  Sophmores included setter and right side hitter, Brooke Holben; outside hitter and defensive specialist, Brynn Rearick;  outside hitter, Montana Hetrick;  and Karlee Shoemaker, a defensive specialist. The Juniors includef middle hitter, Kianna Shreckengost;   middle and outside hitter, Becca Kunselman; middle hitter, Lauren Smith;  a middle hitter, Taylor King; and setter, Tara Hindenliter. The Seniors include  right side hitter, Torilynne Nelson;  defensive specialist, Hope Spence;   defensive specialist, Shylie Shreckengost; defensive specialist, Kristen Shaffer; a setter, Carissa Rearick; and Jordan Milliron, an outside hitter.

Both teams had a great season with junior varsity losing two and varsity only losing one. After winning against Karns City 3-0,  RV varsity went to District 9 AA Finals where they played Brookville at St. Mary’s. They won against Brookville 3-0, taking them to state playoffs against Freeport at Dubois. Sadly, they lost the first round of playoffs 0-3.

Throughout the years the seniors have worked very hard to accomplish their goals. The teammates that have worked with them will miss them very much and wish them the best of luck in their future plans.
