Mrs. Heasley started a robotics group with a number of students who were highly interested in engineering.  It became an official club last year.  There are twenty-seven students in all grades participating with the eighth grade having the most.  With so many students involved, Mrs. Heasley needed some extra help, so she asked Miss Boyles, the district librarian for assistance.

This year’s theme for the robotics competitions is “Crossfire.” There are six other schools that compete. The type of robot that they built was a vex robot, which is controlled by a vex controller, similar to a video game controller. The tasks that it had to achieve were move a mannequin, which represented  a person; move paint cans, which represented chemical cans; and shoot golf balls at Solo cups, which represented fire being shot at by water.

Redbank earned second place at the DuBois competition on October 21, and they will be headed to North Dakota for the regional robotic competition in late November.
