Mr. Hartle’s senior high art class is painting a snow plow for PennDOT’s Paint the Plow annual project.

According to PennDOT, “Paint the plow is a community outreach program in which students are invited to paint a PennDOT snow plow blade with original artwork to represent their individual school. In addition to being visible when in full service during winter-weather months, the blade will be used to enhance public awareness, promote safety and foster greater appreciation of both PennDOT and the school’s art program.”

Only students that go to the school that applied for the program are able to participate in this project. School staff members are allowed to direct the work; but they are not allowed to participate in the painting part of the project. In addition, the school has to incorporate the PennDOT’s theme “Ice and Snow, Take it Slow,” and they can also add in their school’s mascot. All artwork has to be original.

The plow will be picked up around October 6th, and it will be waiting to be used throughout the winter months.
